It is said that Jaya TV, owned by none other than the chief-minister of the State, has acquired the satellite broadcasting rights of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kabali besides Vijay’s latest hit film Theri.
Incidentally, both Kabali and Theri have been produced by ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu, who is also the president of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC). It is further reported that the channel has also silently bagged the satellite rights of Suriya’s latest hit film 24 and actor Vikram’s upcoming film Iru Mugan.
For the past five years, Jaya TV has been evincing keen interest in bagging satellite rights of films starring leading heroes. It managed to acquire release rights on television of Vijay’s Kaththi, Ajith’s Aarambam, Vikram’s I, Rajamaouli’s magnum opus Baahubali and superstar Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan and Lingaa in the recent past. In particular, Jaya TV beat Sun TV in acquiring rights of Lingaa for Rs.32 crores.
