Thanu condemns Vairamuthu’s negative statement about Kabali

Producer ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu has condemned lyricist Vairamuthu’s reported remarks about Kabali being a ‘failure’ at the box-office. “The truth is there for everyone to see; I’m sure Vairamuthu speaks negatively only because I didn’t provide him a chance to write any song in Kabali,” Thanu has said.
Kabali has been doing very well in theatres across Tamil Nadu, other South Indian States and elsewhere in the country despite its mixed reviews. In the meantime, while taking part at a Lion’s Club event, lyricist Vairamuthu reportedly described Kabali as a failed venture, thus sparking instant condemnation and criticism from Rajini’s die-hard fans across the globe.
Fans have got up on social networking sites to criticize Vairamuthu, who has penned many of Rajini’s most popular songs. “I’m sure Vairamuthu is upset at not getting a chance to write a song in Kabali and that’s why he has been making such irresponsible statements. For some reasons, I couldn’t give him chance to write lyrics in my last 2-3 films including Kabali. He hasn’t understood my situation and has just spewed venom.
“It is the same Vairamuthu who took 400 tickets of the film on its first day in theatres and I gave them free-of-cost to him without taking a single penny from him. Whatever is said by anyone, nobody can hide the fact that Kabali is a super-duper hit film whose success is simple unprecedented in India’s film history,” Thanu said.
