Sivakarthikeyan and Anirudh have always created new records with their albums and they’re now with ‘Velaikkaran’, which is launched in grandeur. The film is directed by Mohan Raja and is produced by RD Raja of 24AM Studios with Nayantara, Fahadh Faasil, Prakash, Sneha and Rohini in important roles.
Karuthavanlaam Galeejam
Singer: Anirudh Ravichander
Lyrics: Viveka
The song becomes an instant hit for its appeal to the masses with power packed percussions in ‘Kuthu’ mode. Anirudh Ravichander has given his best over the overall package of knowing what exactly Sivakarthikeyan fans expect from him. It is so much obvious that the opening song is going to be a blast in theatres. The song has lines that touch the soul of Chennai and its authentic dwellers, who are in slums.
Iraiva
Singers: Anirudh Ravichander and Jonita Gandhi
Lyrics: Viveka
It’s a much emotional number that traverses through different feel of painful pathos and an unconditional love between two souls. The outcry emoted well with Anirudh Ravichander takes you to the uttermost bonding towards the song. The same tunes are recreated for the female verses, which comes much more sublime. No doubt! The song is already on its best phase and will definitely get bigger with the visuals.
Ezhu Velaikkara
Singers: Siddharth Mahadevan and Chorus
Lyrics: Viveka
Few seconds after listening to the song, we become so much assured that it’s a tailor made track for Shankar Mahadevan, only to get ourselves with a fact. It’s his son Siddarth Mahadevan crooning it. So much of amazing elements ascribe his wonderful voice that sounds much alike his father, but in different depth. This sounds like a montage song that would appear during the situation, where hero rises to the occurrence to bring a change.
Idhayane
Singers: Neeti Mohan and Anirudh Ravichander
Lyrics: Karky
After Iraiva, here is yet another melodious track. Idhayane, which instantly gets us, soaked in its wonderful essence. The combination of Anirudh Ravichander and Neeti Mohan has always been a special boon to listeners. The interludes that come with mildness in instrumentals and chord works are serenely exotic. Karky follows the same pattern of lyrical lines that comes with rhythmic ending.
Vaa Velaikkara
Singers: Shakthisree Gopalan and Bjorn Surrao
Lyrics: Vivek
It sounds like a song that will gain its importance when viewed it in big screens. This happens because of the fact that it sounds more like a situational track. There are portions, where Anirudh could have easily passed the interludes with percussion portions. But he takes extra efforts to try something different and goes well replacing them with guitars and strings.
The three tracks ‘Karuthavanlaam’, ‘Iraiva’ and ‘Idhayane’ instantly gain our attention while other tracks have a groovy presentation. But they might get brewed with the visuals after watching it together as a movie.
Verdict : A mix of commercial and exceptional genre of music from Anirudh ticks in all boxes.
