Actress Gautami, the live-in partner of actor Kamal Haasan, has said that she is proof enough of the fact that anybody can fight and overcome the effects of (breast) cancer with unwavering determination and will-power.
48-year old Gautami was affected by breast cancer more than a decade back and underwent intense treatment to come out of it successfully. She later floated a charitable organization named ‘Life Again’ to provide all possible help, guidance and assistance to cancer-affected patients in coming out of the crisis.
Taking part at a book-launch function held in Chennai recently, Gautami said “Cancer can be won over; I’m proof enough of this fact. If cancer strikes, don’t think that you have come to the end of your life; there is life beyond cancer. With determination and will-power along with fighting instincts, we can win over cancer and the chief objective of ‘Life Again’ is to guide cancer-affected patients!” Re.1 lakh was donated to Gautami’s organization ‘Life Again’.
It may be noted that Gautami, a successful heroine in the late eighties till the nineties, even made a comeback as an actress in Kollywood with last year’s super-hit film Papanasam by playing Kamal Haasan’s wife.
