Tickets for the premiere shows of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kabali have been sold out like hot cakes within a few minutes after advance booking for the shows opened on the Internet.
As announced by S. Thanu, the film’s producer, Kabali is to release next Friday (22nd July) in theaters worldwide. In an unprecedented manner and which is a record number for an Indian film, Kabali is to release in more than 5,000 halls worldwide. Rajini’s fans have already started celebrating the release of the film 10 days in advance. Clamour was palpable among fans to get the tickets for the premiere shows.
Rex Cinemas in France, arguably the largest cinema hall in Europe, premiers Kabali on 21st evening. The tickets for the show were sold out within a few minutes, forcing Rex to announce that it was planning to arrange another special premiere probably on the night of 21st July or on the morning of 22nd July. Besides, premiere shows would be screened in U.S. and Australia where ticket ranges between US $22-40; even Hollywood films are priced only for US $15.
No official detail has so far been made available about the special premiere shows to be organized in Chennai; however, going by the past record, special shows might commence at 04:00 or 05:00 a.m. on the morning of 22nd July in many halls in the city and the suburban localities. More than 400 out of the 1100 cinema halls in Malaysia (most of them being multiplexes) would be screening Kabali from 29th July onwards.
