It is rumoured strongly in Kollywood that after the super-success of his superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali, director Pa. Ranjith’s next film would star Suriya in the lead.
Ranjith, who had directed only Attakathi and Madras, got to direct none other than Rajinikanth in only his third film as director. Critics say that Ranjith had done a very good job in the film which may not be a typical Rajini film but a commercial, emotional entertainer. Ranjith was to work with Suriya earlier but postponed the venture as he got the offer to direct Kabali last year.
Suriya, who is busy shooting for his upcoming Hari-directed S3 (the third film on the Singam sequel), is said to have already commenced the preparatory work to increase his biceps and acquire a six-pack abs so as to suit his role of a boxer in Ranjith’s new untitled film.
The film’s script is set in North Chennai, Ranjith’s favourite spot, and would deal with the lives of budding boxers. The film is likely to go to floors towards the year-end. It may be noted that during his 17-year long career, Suriya has never essayed a boxer in any of his films!
